Adding Records with Machine Integration
One way of getting records into your Conservis account is by uploading them directly from your John Deere Operations Center or Climate FieldView account. Please read more below on how to prep, set up and manage the integration between your systems.
Machine Integration
Machine Integration at Conservis has matured into a simple and streamlined procedure. When an operation enables data sharing from John Deere Operations Center and/or Climate FieldView with Conservis, activity data and as-applied maps are matched to Conservis costs with minimal work on your end. Your data is then seamlessly integrated with all aspects of your account.
Why Machine Integration?
Generate valuable ROI insights from seeing cost of production and profitability at a crop, field and zone level.
Gain traceability and activity records for compliance and food safety without manual entry.
Enable automatic and precise input inventory management.
Get a map-based visualization of each field, aggregated from different types of equipment.
Before Connecting to Conservis: Best Practices/Setup
To make sure the setup process goes smoothly between Conservis and your Integration partner (either John Deere Ops Center or Climate FieldView), we recommend ensuring your other system’s data is cleaned up first.
Field Setup
Make sure each field has a unique name, and that there are no duplicates among old fields and farms. You may need to archive fields from past years.
Field Corners: If you have pivot irrigation, we recommend that each field corner has a unique name. [Example: NE-Corner PVH3, SW Corner PVH3, etc.] At the very least, plan on breaking the field out in Conservis the same way you’ve broken it up inside your other account.
Field Boundaries: Confirm that all field boundaries are created within the John Deere or Climate FieldView account.
Input Setup
Make sure that you have added all inputs (chemicals, seed, and fertilizer) to John Deere or Climate FieldView.
Mixtures: It’s a good idea to include your likely tank mixes in your setup file, at the rate you plan on applying them.
Climate FieldView Setup:
Equipment Setup
Create both the tractor and implement that will be used for each field activity, including appropriate measurement off-sets, rate controller and monitor that will be used for each piece of equipment.
Check that all relevant equipment is listed as Active in Climate FieldView and mark old or unused equipment as Archived.
Application Setup
Ensure all spray applications created within the FieldView Cab App contain products for the application.
Device Pairing
Pair the FieldView Drive or Precision Planting 20/20 monitor to Fieldview Cab app. Tip: Within the Devices page select which device you will be using.
John Deere Operations Center Setup:
Operator Setup
Ensure all known equipment operators are set up within the John Deere Operations Center prior to connecting your Conservis account.
Setting Up within Conservis
Before starting Machine Integration for the first time, complete the following steps:
Complete any cleanup and updates before starting the integration.
Tip on naming Equipment: We recommend including the serial number in your equipment name so it’s easy to locate a match if you have multiple pieces of similar equipment on your farm.
Crop Year: Update the Crop Year (SETUP -> Settings -> General) and make sure it is set in the current growing year.
Field Setup and Crop Assignment: Ensure that all fields are set up and assigned the desired Crop Type for the current Crop Year.
Connecting Your Account to Conservis
Authenticate the Machine Integration Partner: Go to SETUP > Machine Integration.
From the Conservis Machine Integration page, you can log in to your Integration partner by clicking the Authorize button. This creates a shared connection between your integration partner and Conservis. Once connected, you can manage set up and matching data right from the Data Partners Page.
Note: Each growing season, you’ll be asked to renew this connection to ensure your integration partner account is still active. You may be asked to re-authenticate more often if you make changes in your integration partner account like updating your password.
That’s it! You’re connected.
Tip: Contact your Customer Success Manager if you want to bring in past field activities for the current crop year.
Machine Integration AutoSetup with John Deere
If you’re new to Conservis and a John Deere user, we’ll walk you through creating your fields, inputs, and equipment directly from your John Deere records. It is vitally important that your John Deere records have been updated with a fine-tooth comb before we import your data.
If you’re wondering whether we can do a version of this AutoSetup process with Climate FieldView fields, give your Customer Success Manager a call on the latest developments.
Matching Your Data
After authorizing your account, make sure your Fields, Equipment, Inputs and Operators are matched.
Select the Matching button to get to the Matching screen, then work through each tab on the left hand side (Farm / Field, Inputs, Operators, and Equipment) until all are matched. Hit the dropdown next to Affected Tickets to get more information about an unmatched item. If you don’t need to collect any information from that item, click Exclude.
If you’re unsure what you’ve matched or excluded, click the Excluded or Matched tabs at the top of the page.
Tip: If using more than one integration partner, keep specific to field activities. Example: Use Climate FieldView to track your planting activities and John Deere to track your spraying activities. We recommend accomplishing this by only matching the related equipment for each activity.
Note: For the initial connections, it can take up to 24 hours to have the entirety of your data sent over and processed in Conservis before being displayed in matching.
Running an Audit
When an activity type has been completed, you can run an audit between your Integration Partner and Conservis to check for accuracy. An example would be when all of your planting is done. Schedule some time with Conservis Customer Success to review, they will happily walk you through the steps.
