Your customer success team will guide you through setting up your operation, but here's a few steps you can complete on your own to get started.
Step 1 - Adding users
To add the rest of your team in Conservis, go to SETUP > Users > +Create User
Add their information - we recommend using an email address for their username if they have one.
Click Next.
That brings you to the roles screen. Select the role this user will play on your farm. If you need more information about the role options in Conservis, this help article goes into detail around each option.
Click Next.
That brings you to the Password screen. You can either send an email to create their own password or create a password for your team member.
Click Finish
Repeat for any additional team members
Below is a 2-minute video of the process using our previous menu navigation.
Step 2 - Adding Farms and Fields
The easiest way to do this is through machine integration. Confirm your data in John Deere Operations Center or Climate FieldView is up to date, and you can follow the steps to connect your machine data directly into Conservis. Your Customer success team will typically walk you through this process during your setup meetings.
To Manually create farms and fields in Conservis,
Go to SETUP > Farms > New Farm to add your Farms.
Then go to SETUP > Fields > and click the New Field button
Here is a quick video of the process.
Step 3 - Adding Crops and Commodities
Your Customer Success Team will preset your farm with a list of crop types. To add specific crops and commodities in Conservis:
Go to SETUP > Commodities > New Commodity
Name your commodity and assign it to a crop type. If you do not see an existing crop type in the list, reach out to Customer Success to add a new crop type to Conservis.
After you enter the units and shrink/moisture percentages, click Create or Create+ if you want to create another commodity.
To create a new Crop:
Go to SETUP > Commodities > New Crop
Name this crop and connect it to an existing crop type in Conservis and an existing Commodity. If you do not see the crop type you need, contact Customer Success to have it added.
Click Create or Create+ if you have more crops to add.
Step 4 - Assign Crops to Fields
Now that you have added Farms, Fields, Commodities, and Crops you are ready to assign the crops you will grow in this crop year onto specific fields. The video below will guide you through the process.
Step 5 - Add Equipment
From grain bins to tractors, having your equipment entered into Conservis is an important setup step. If you were able to import all your equipment from Machine integration, this step is already complete. To add additional equipment:
For Production equipment: Go to SETUP > Production Equipment > New Equipment. This is where you will enter sprayers, planters, spreaders, tillers, and other field equipment used during the production season.
For Harvest equipment including bins: Go to SETUP > Harvest Equipment > New Equipment. This is where you would include storage bins, grain carts, Semi trucks, etc.
Step 6 - Add Inputs
If you added inputs already through machine integration, you might be done with this step. But if you didn't, or if you have inputs you use on farm that aren't captured automatically with machine data, here's how you can add inputs:
Go to Setup > Inputs > New Input
Add the category and if applicable select the input from the CDMS database.
TIP: If using an input from the CDMS database, remove the Trademark symbol from the input name before clicking Save. This will make it easier to match the input up later in growing season.
Click Save.
That will get you started in Conservis. If you have any questions, reach out via chat or phone to Customer Success and they can help you with the next step.
