Adding Records

Work Orders are the main method for communicating out to your field team, but good communication is a two way street, so there are several ways you can have activities communicated back to the farm office.

  1. Fulfilling the Work Order on a Mobile Device.

  2. Creating that activity ticket on your computer (for one field or many) and manually changing the status of the Work Order to Complete.

  3. Marrying Work Orders with Machine Integration to import the data from both sources simultaneously.

Chat with your Customer Success Manager (CSM) if you’re trying to figure out which path to choose.

Fulfilling Work Order Tasks on a Mobile Device

You’ll want to use this process if you created Work Orders in the back office. Finishing Work Order tasks on the mobile device is the easiest way to fulfill those Work Orders.

To Install the Mobile App Conservis - Row Crops

  • Go to the App Store or Google Play on your mobile device.

  • Search for Conservis - Row Crops.

  • Download the app.

  • Log into your app using your Conservis credentials.

Completing the Work Order

  • Within the mobile app, you will see a task list of Work Orders. Identify the Task from the list you want to begin. TIP: If there are too many tasks in the list, you can use the funnel icon in the top right to filter the list. [Note the screenshot below is from an iPhone. Android and IOS operating systems will show slightly different views]

  • If this task has more than one field visible, tap on the name of the field where you are starting the work.

  • Tapping Directions will open driving directions to the field in your device's preferred mapping app.

  • Scroll up from the bottom to expand the work order to see the list of inputs and equipment needed so you have what you need when you get to the field.

  • When you are ready to begin the work, click Start Task. No matter how long you take to complete the work, leave the task open until the work is complete.

    Complete the work

  • When your work is complete click Create Ticket.

  • Check the ticket for accuracy, filling in any missing information. You may need to change the equipment or add/adjust any inputs that differ from the original work order.

    Press Submit.

  • Select if the field is complete. If you press yes, the ticket will be completed and removed. Press no to return to this task and complete later.

Fulfilling Work Orders on a Desktop (or Laptop) Computer

If you only need to add records of completed activities in the back office, don’t use Work Orders, because those are specifically designed to send instructions to your operators. You can bypass that step by simply creating an activity ticket (for multiple fields if needed) on the Desktop.

The best way to complete the work of a work order is through the mobile app. However, if a field operator is unable to use the app, the activity can be logged in the back office. First, create an activity ticket to log that the work has been done. Then, go to your work order and mark the work as complete.

Step 1: Creating a Production activity ticket in the Back Office

Go to PRODUCTION > ACTIVITIES > Production.

  • Press the blue New Ticket button. Choose what type of activity to create.

  • Enter the required information - Equipment, Operator, Field, Acres, Crop, and Start and End Date/Time.

    • Tip: If your ticket is within two weeks of the current date, Conservis will append weather information automatically.

    • Tip: You can have Conservis pre-fill your Fields’ acres on each ticket if you would prefer. Call your CSM to change the setting.

  • Check the Field Complete box if the activity (planting, spreading, spraying, etc.) is completed for the season.

  • Click the blue “Add Input” link to add inputs. You can choose to fill in the rate applied or totals.

To apply this activity to multiple fields: Click the gray “Add Fields” button.

  • Choose which fields to apply it to, then choose Next.

  • Type in the Acres for each field (or, if you are having the system pre-fill the acres, simply check they’re accurate) and click Assign.

This will create one ticket for every field you’ve chosen.

Adding this ticket will show the work that has been done on the field (s) and apply costs to reports, but to track your work order progress, the next step is to mark the corresponding work order as complete in the back office.

Step 2: Marking a Work Order Complete in the back office

Go to PRODUCTION > WORK ORDERS > Manage.

  • Use the filters to narrow down your list of Work Orders so it is easy to find the one you need. Click the Show Additional Filters link if you need more options.

  • Once you have found the work order, click on the work order number to open the Work order.

  • Press the Edit button.

  • Change the Status for each task to Complete.

  • Scroll down and Press Save.

Tip: Do not mark a work order complete if you have not added the work through activity tickets or machine integration. Otherwise your reporting will not be accurate. Completing a work order in the back office will show the work order has been done but the inputs and activities will not appear in your reports unless they are recorded through the mobile app or integrated machines.

Machine Integration and Work Orders

An alternative method of getting records into your Conservis account is by uploading them directly from your John Deere Operations Center or Climate FieldView account. Please read more below on how to prep, set up and manage the integration between your systems.

When growers enable data sharing from John Deere Operations Center and /or Climate FieldView with Conservis, activity data and as-applied maps are matched to Conservis costs with minimal work on your end. Your data is then seamlessly integrated with all aspects of your account.

But how does that work with Work Orders?

Typically Work Orders are used to communicate the work needed to operators and activity tickets from Mobile communicate back that the work has been completed. But what happens if that operator completes a Work Order through Mobile and the integrated machines communicate the work directly to Conservis?

If Machine Integration is active, mobile users can use Work Orders in the app to see assigned tasks, get directions to fields, and mark the work complete, but the as-applied amounts and application map will come from the machine tickets instead of the mobile ticket.
